Since Saturday, social networks have only been talking about that. Arcane season 2 ended after nine episodes which definitively placed the series in the Pantheon of Netflix productions, thanks in particular to the work on the animation of the French Forts. But if the main story of Vi, Jinx, and all of Piltover in general seems to have found an end point, does that necessarily mean that there will be no season 3?
On this point, yes. It was confirmed well before the broadcast of this season 2 on the streaming platform that Arcane will not see a third batch. But it is not so much a budget problem that would have pushed Riot Games not to see further than a concern to take the story to other territories.
Indeed, it has often been whispered by the screenwriters that the universe of League of Legends was going to explore other stories after Arcane and it is today confirmed by showrunner Christian Linke, who, during an interview on Twitch with streamer Necrit94, provided some juicy information. Yes, a new series is already in development!
Three new series in preparation after Arcane
Linke revealed that the upcoming show has already been in development for a year and that the teams have been given the green light for two more series. Three projects around Noxus, Ionia et Demacia.
If you saw the end ofArcane, Noxus is not a surprise since this is where Mel Medara, where she and her mother are from, now seems to be going. From there to implying that the character would form the link between the two series, there is only one step that we can easily take. Especially since the intrigue surrounding the Black Rose seems far from over and Noxus could be the answer to fans’ wish to know more.
For his part, Ionia is an archipelago of islands known as the First Lands. Among the League of Legends characters that we could find there, we can cite Master Yi, Shen, Ahri, Akali or even Zed who has a link with Noxus.
Finally, Demacia is a rich and noble kingdom that is home to champions like Garen, Kayle, Fiora, Lux and Morgana.
In short, the universe of League of Legends did not finish expanding after Arcane and if each series is designed with the same care as the model, then we will be amazed for years to come. Nevertheless, without playing the birds of ill omen, we also say to ourselves that given the time, energy and money spent on only two seasons ofArcanewe are not immune to several changes of direction, project or cancellation along the way. Except for Noxus which already seems to be on the right track.
