This Saturday, November 23, Netflix unveils the final three episodes of the series Arcanetaken from the video game League of Legends. Ultimate because the series ends with season 2. While the creators explain why, they also tease other projects for the franchise…

The weekend promises to be full of emotions for fans of the series Arcane. Indeed, season 2 of the Netflix series ends this Saturday, November 23 with the broadcast of the last three episodes. Three chapters that must be savored with great care because the fiction, adapted from the world of video games League of Legendswill not have a season 3. A radical artistic decision which does not come from Netflix but from the co-producers of the series: Riot Games, publishing company of the video game, and Fortiche Production, the French animation studio to which we owes this nugget. A few weeks ago, the two entities were present in for a conference on the launch of season 2. The opportunity to explain the reasons for this non-renewal.

Arcane on Netflix: why the series League of Legends will not have season 3

It was Pascal Charrue, one of the co-founders of the Fortiche studio, who took on the heavy task of explaining the absence of a season 3 ofArcane to the fans present: “It was only supposed to be one season. One season became two. I know we're being asked for a third, but two seasons was already eight years of work, writing and production for twelve hours of content. That's the equivalent of seven animated films! It's a lot and a little at the same time. […] Fortiche is celebrating its fifteenth anniversary and we spent more than half of that time working on Arcane. But it also shows our close bond and strong collaboration with Riot Games“, he explained. He took the opportunity to clarify how much the series had made the animation studio grow: “For Arcane, at the beginning, there were a maximum of 50 of us, and at the end there were 700, divided between and Spain.

No season 3 but other projects Arcane in preparation…

Let's dry our tears because the lack should not be permanent. Kiahna Manker, creative producer for Riot Games, also present, assured: “The collaboration doesn't stop there, we have other projects in development together and we can't wait.“For its part, the Fortiche team even promised a further improvement in the level of animation for future projects:”We had the chance to work with the same teams in season 1, then in season 2, even if we expanded a lot. At the start of season 1, they were young teams and we all grew up together. Season 2 is a continuation of season 1 graphically, just a little better. We all had little experience compared to the scale and ambition of season 1, but we all evolved and learned. And you will see, in the next projects, it will be even better…
