After its brilliant success against New Zealand (30-29), the XV of France returns to Argentina for its last match of the Autumn Nations Series.
This match can be followed live and in full on TF1 in TF1+ streaming, as well as live commentary on TF1info.
How we meet again. Just a few months after a successful summer tour which turned into a nightmare – with the Jaminet and Mendoza affairs – the XV of France faces Argentina, this Friday, November 22 (9:10 p.m.), at the Stade de France. The tricolors are aiming for a solid success this fall, after convincing successes against Japan (52-12) and especially New Zealand (30-29). A new success would build confidence ahead of a Six Nations Tournament where Fabien Galthié's players will aim for nothing less than final victory.
But be careful, the mission promises to be anything but obvious. Since a lackluster last World Cup, the Pumas have asserted themselves as one of the best teams in the international elite. The arrival at the helm of the former emblematic N.10 Felipe Contepomi made it possible to accelerate the transformation that began several years ago. Thus, if Juan Cruz Mallía's teammates have won “only” six of their eleven matches in 2024, they have demonstrated their ability to make any selection doubt or even fall. They have already created exploits against France (33-25), New Zealand (38-30), Australia (67-27) and South Africa (29-28).
A “very difficult team to play”
“It’s a team that is having a great season, very difficult to play and which is one of the best nations in the world without any problem”assures Fabien Galthié at a press conference. “It is not afraid, it is made up of great players (who) constantly adapt with the world Rugby system. It is really a rugby which is very intelligent, which catches up with the best nations in the world thanks (to Rugby Championship) and European championships”, adds the French coach.
The gap between the two teams should be even closer due to the poor recovery of the Blues, who have only benefited from six days of rest since their last outing. Their opponents had the right to a full week, since they played last Friday in Ireland (for a narrow 19-22 defeat). “It's not a gift. Against these teams, we need to regenerate but we knew that before. That's why there are rotations, a group that moves a little bit”underlines the French technician. But “the six-day preparation is underway”he reassures.
