Belgium 2025: revelation of the 8 Eurosong finalists

It was very early this morning (really very early!) that the VRT (Flemish-language public channel) announced the 8 artists who will participate in the national final. In the Little Journal of the week #3, I announced the following names to you:

  • Jelle Van Dael, 34, former singer of the Belgian electro group Lasgo. She is now a solo singer.
  • LEZ, 31 years old, semi-finalist in 2016 of The Voice Flemish version. Since then, she has been following her own path between covering songs by Bruce Springsteen and Anouk and releasing her first single in 2023. Its title Toxic lullaby was a success last summer.
  • Red Sebastian, 25 years old, promising young singer on the Belgian scene. Finalist of a tele-hook. He received singing lessons from Gustaph (Belgian representative in 2023).
  • Grace Khuabi, 21 years old, winner of The Voice on the Dutch-speaking Belgium side in 2021. She played the main role in the musical Hairspray last spring.

Exit Noémie Wolfs, once strongly anticipated but here are the 4 other contenders for the title:

  • Le Manou is a young singer and DJ aged 29. His style varies between pop and urban sound. She is originally from Durbuy in Wallonia and participated in The Voice Belgium in 2013. She sings mainly in French.
  • Lenn, 25 years old, is none other than the grandson of Louis Neefs, double representative of Belgium in 1967 and 1969. After studying cinema and psychology, he definitively took up music. He regularly publishes covers on Tiktok and Instagram.
  • Stéphanie Callebaut 37 years old, singer of the Belgian group SX until 2022, the year the group stopped after a tour. She sings mainly in English.
  • Mentissa. The most famous name in the selection! She is 24 years old and became known thanks to The Voice . Her song Et Bam has been listened to more than 50 million times and she was nominated for the Victoires de la Musique in 2023 in the “female revelation of the year” category. She is already the favorite of this selection.

In January, each of the artists will present their 2 contributions in one of the two shows which will be broadcast before the final. They will be performed acoustically, without artifice. These presentations will be recorded in December and broadcast on VRT1 in January.

As for the final, it will take place on February 1 and will be presented by Peter Van de Veire. The combination of a professional jury and public voting will decide the Belgian candidacy for Eurovision 2025.

So what do you think of this selection? Tell us your impressions in the comments!
