Should we watch the new season 17 broadcast from this Wednesday, November 13, 2024 on TF1? Our opinion

Last year, the series Criminal minds returned in a somewhat miraculous way, with a season that redefined the format and which proved particularly successful. This Wednesday, November 13, she is back on TF1 with two new premieres, broadcast from 9:10 p.m. The profilers are all, or almost all, back. Will viewers be too? Suspense! In the meantime, Télé-Loisirs reveals whether these 10 new parts are worth the detour…

Criminal Minds : What does the new season 17 have in store for you, broadcast from this Wednesday, November 13 on TF1?

This new season begins barely two weeks after the shocking finale of the previous one, which saw the serial killer Sicarius (Zach Gilford) be arrested by the FBI after he killed Bailey (Nicholas D'Agosto). When Criminal minds returns, the team celebrates Penelope's birthday (Kirsten Vangsness). A happy moment which unfortunately will only last for a while. Prentiss and the whole team learn that Sicarius, whom they had so much difficulty apprehending, has made a deal with the Director of the FBI (played by the guest Clark Greggthe former interpreter of Agent Coulson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe). At the heart of this agreement: the help provided by the criminal to apprehend “Gold Star”, an extremely violent serial killer, launched on a quest for revenge and who seems to be a real national issue for the authorities. Against their will, the profilers will therefore have to cooperate with him… On the sidelines of their investigations, the profilers must face their own demons and wounds: David Rossi, who had been taken captive by Sicarius, (Joe Mantegna) is deeply traumatized, Tara (Aisha Tyler) must deal with his breakup with Rebecca…

Criminal Minds : Should we watch the new season 17 broadcast from this Wednesday, November 13 on TF1? Our opinion

The facelift operated by Criminal minds for his return (a more serialized plot, even more explicit imagery, dialogues freed from certain polite shackles, an intimate life of his characters explored in more depth…) had done him the greatest good and had instilled in him vigor renewed after years of gently purring. Let the suspense end here: this 17th season takes advantage of these new bases to take the venerable series even further. These 10 new episodes push everything even further and make it an excellent vintage: dark, violent, shocking, captivating, moving and sometimes difficult to bear. Central in this season, whether in relation to the plot or in relation to its human material. Central this season, the character of Elias Voit, alias Sicarius, proves to be as hypnotizing as he is detestable, the ideal mix. The production, which has further gained in efficiency, proves sharp, never spoiling a single shot, allowing itself some surprising effects. The screenplay succeeds in maintaining the balance between the thriller and the study of characters (the profilers have never been so fragile and human), while inevitably weaving its dramatic web, distilling surprising and coherent twists and turns, questioning the Department of Behavioral Sciences' own nature and past actions. It all ends with a cliffhanger that will undoubtedly leave fans wanting to know what happens next. Very beautiful work… “Who’s infected now?” said Voit at the very end of episode 2 of this 17th season? After seeing it, you will definitely make fans contaminated by Criminal minds who, definitely, is living an incredible second life! Tune in to TF1 this Wednesday, November 13 to see it…
