Should we watch the new TF1 series with Camille Lou, Constance Labbé and Claire Romain broadcast from this Monday, November 11, 2024? Our opinion

This Monday, November 11 marks a big day for TF1. Indeed, it is this evening that the private channel begins broadcasting one of the most anticipated series of the year, the French adaptation by TF1 of Signé Cat’s Eyes, the manga by Japanese Tsukasa Hôjô. Broadcast in the mid-1980s on 3, in the youth show Amuse 3 on FR3 at the time, the animated series made millions of children around the world dream, and has a special place in the hearts of many French people. Will it be the same for Cat’s Eyesthe fiction in eight 52-minute episodes directed by Alexandre Laurent (to whom we owe the very successful The Fighters et The Charity Bazaar) ?

Cat’s Eyes : DWhat is the series adapted from the cult cartoon about, broadcast from this Monday, November 11 on TF1?

The series begins when, ten years after the disappearance of her father in the mysterious fire of his art gallery, Tam (Camille Lou, disturbed by her new look) returns to after years of absence. The young woman finds her two sisters Sylia there, the eldest played by Constance Labbé (Balthazar) and Alexia, played by Claire Romain, alias Ambre in Here it all begins. And his return is not trivial: Tam intends to shed light on their father's death, convinced that it was not accidental. To do this, she hopes to steal a work that belonged to the latter during a prestigious exhibition at the Eiffel Tower. A plan which does not delight her older sister, but seduces the younger one. Problem: there, she will cross paths with Quentin Chapuis, her ex-boyfriend, who is none other than the captain of the Brigade for the Repression of Banditry (BRB), played by MB14, finalist of The Voice (2016) and The Voice All Stars (2021)…

Cat’s Eyes : Should we watch the TF1 series broadcast from this Monday, November 11, 2024? Our opinion

The tone is set from the first minutes: Cat’s Eyes will amaze us! The first episode opens with a spectacular stunt by Camille Lou hanging from the Eiffel Tower at night. A breathtaking introduction, enhanced by the effective production of Alexandre Laurent. It must be said that the latter had a comfortable budget – 25 million euros for 8 episodes! – to give free rein to your imagination. And it is clear that he used it wisely. Throughout the eight episodes, punctuated by an extremely effective and well-chosen soundtrack, the latter offers viewers a range of scenes of a sublimated Paris, particularly at night where the Eiffel Tower – very present – once again proves that It is one of the most beautiful monuments in the world.

But this is not the only success of this ambitious series, almost awaited by those nostalgic for the manga of the time who will undoubtedly not fail to note a significant change. To succeed in seducing this demanding audience, it was, of course, necessary to have a worthy trio. And production was hollow in recruiting Camille Lou, Constance Labbé and Claire Romain. In addition to their freshness and impeccable performance, a natural complicity emerges from the three women, giving the impression that they know each other… like sisters! All three are also served by sharp dialogues – we find ourselves bursting out laughing at their repartee and the humor of their respective characters – and the playing partners involved. This is particularly the case of Élodie Fontan, who seems to be having such fun playing the villainess, just like Guillaume de Tonquédec, or even Gilbert Mekhi as always irresistible. Special mention to Juliette Plumecocq-Mech, recently seen in La tribu, and once again excellent.

Finally, and many viewers will no doubt be singing in front of their , the production has concocted a theme song which should cause a huge reaction. Very graphic, it covers the cult song by Cyril de Turckheim (to whom we also owe the French versions of the credits of Denver, the last dinosaur or even Ninja Turtles) reorchestrated and sung by Anne Sila. A real success and one of the (many) good surprises of this live action version of Cat’s Eyeswhich lives up to our (very high) expectations.
