the petition launched by the channel is doing a lot…

Friday November 8, 2024, C8 launched a petition to demand the survival of the channel, which must stop broadcasting in March 2025. On the My opinions site, this has already been signed by hundreds of thousands of fans.

An important date for the channel… At the beginning of the summer, ARCOM decided not to renew the frequency of C8. Friday November 15, 2024, the channel will meet before the Council of State in order to try to keep its TNT frequency which it should lose at the end of February 2025. Before that, C8 launched a petition in order to put all the chances on its side.

On the My Opinions site, this has already caused a lot of noise. And for good reason, with more than 222,000 signatures, it is one of the most signed petitions on the site. “Each day, more than 9.6 million cumulative viewers watch C8 broadcasts (…) The success of flagship programs such as Touche Pas à Mon Poste, Pascale, Eric et Yann and the others, Chez Jordan, William à Midi, (…) and many other programs, testifies to the interest of viewers for content offered”.

C8 is in danger

While Touche pas à mon poste attracts two million viewers every evening, the channel estimates that this shows “how much viewers are attached to the tone and diversity of the channel”. “C8 is distinguished by its commitment to accessibility for people with disabilitiesthe representation of diversity and women and through the broadcast of new programs”we can read.

After reminding that the channel was investing “consequently in the production of French and European audiovisual and cinematographic works”it was added: The stakes are high : preserve a company and a model of audiovisual creation that inspire and entertain a large audience, while supporting a multitude of professions that bring this sector to life”.

C8 has many fans

On the petition site, many fans supported the channel. “Thank you to Cyril Hanouna and his teams for entertaining us and giving us a voice in a country where leaders only think about their personal interests” ;
And freedom of expression, the freedom to have fun in front of Cyril… What do we do with it?” ; “It’s a shame! No to censorship”we can read.

Monday September 2, 2024, on the set of Mag's Buzz TV, Christine Kelly opposed the closure of the channel.
“We need competition and freedom of choice for the viewer. If we prevent them from choosing between Yann Barthès and Cyril Hanouna, and we impose, indirectly, a broadcast,
it becomes problematic
she had estimated.
