“Here it all begins” Summary of the episode of November 12, 2024
Coline continues to lie to her mother
Carla and Bérénice go to meet Coline. Carla doesn’t understand why she lies to her mother about her studies. Coline explains to them that her mother would not understand that she was studying at Rose’s school. She feels she has no choice but to hide the truth from her mother, because it is her dream to study at the Institute. Bérénice emphasizes that the course lasts three years and that her mother will inevitably learn it.
Coline visits her mother at Angéline’s farm (contraction of Angèle and Coline). It is a pretty building that Angèle inherited from her parents. Angèle grows organic vegetables. She asks Coline if she can help her harvest the lettuce tomorrow. Coline replies that she is not sure she will be able to free herself. Angèle then suggests contacting her employer to inform him of the situation. Coline refuses and assures her mother that she will find a solution.
A little later, Teyssier arrives in chef Armand’s class to make an announcement. The inaugural pastry class will take place the following morning. Coline blames the blow. The young woman does not know what to do and confides in Bérénice and Carla. She explains to them that she has been waiting for this Teyssier class since the start of the school year. Bérénice is going to assist Emmanuel tomorrow and tries to reassure Coline by telling him that if she misses this class, she will be able to give him a detailed debrief.
Alice sets things straight with Gaspard
Alice is destabilized by Gaspard’s words and confides in Stanislas and Hortense. She explains to them that the first grader insinuated that she was autistic and since then, she hasn’t been able to think anything else. As an aside, Stanislas explains to Hortense that he is surprised that Gaspard said that to a teacher, especially since he is reverential with the supervisors. They meet Gaspard and Hortense can’t help but ask him what right he had to tell Alice that she was autistic. Gaspard specifies that he thought she was informed, as the signs seemed obvious to him. Stanislas retorts that it is not his responsibility to make a diagnosis. Gaspard responds that living in denial is never beneficial. He observed this with his little brother. At first, their mother refused to recognize the signs. When the diagnosis was made, it was a relief for his little brother. In addition, it allowed him and his mother to better understand his reactions and adapt to his way of being. Previously, it was up to him to adapt to them, without them realizing how difficult it was for him.
Once alone, Hortense and Stanislas consult an article on autism to determine if it corresponds to Alice. But this one surprises them. Stanislas explains to her that initially, they did not want to stigmatize her, but that after reading testimonies, they understood that it had helped certain people to put into words what he was experiencing. Hortense adds that they think it would be good for her to see someone who can diagnose her. . ” THANKS. On the other hand, I would hope that it wouldn’t change anything between us, because I love being your friend,” Alice replies. A little later, she meets Gaspard who apologizes for having destabilized her. He thinks it might make her feel better to get diagnosed. Alice confides to him that she doesn’t want to be put in a box or treated differently. “If someone treats you differently because of that, they’re an imbecile,” replies the young man. Alice points out that this is exactly what he is doing and adds that she doesn’t need to be told who she is, she is just fine with her life. Gaspard says he is sorry for having insisted.
Anaïs makes a statement in Milan
At the Institute, Anaïs meets Jude at the Workshop. The Master’s chef introduces him to his new culinary creations. Anaïs is struck by her ability to constantly generate recipe ideas. She admits to him that she has been lacking inspiration lately and asks him if he can give her some advice. Jude explains to him that he includes his team in his brainstorming sessions, which allows him to take the weight of creation off his shoulders. Anaïs replies that with Milan, her second, this is not possible. Their only mode of communication is conflict. In addition, he does not have the required level. Jude thinks her real problem is that she doesn’t forgive herself for anything because she’s used to excellence. He encourages her not to give up and reminds her that she won the Vatel prize.
A little later, the young woman gives an update with her brigade on the previous day’s service. She thinks it would be good for there to be better communication between them and says she is ready to make sure they listen a little more. Then, it informs them of a change in the menu entry. She decided to go with a truffle rosette with celeriac. Anaïs thinks her team is capable of mastering this recipe quickly.
The entire chef’s brigade is busy in the kitchen preparing the day’s menu, but 10 minutes before service, Léonard announces bad news to Anaïs: there are no more truffles in reserve. Without this highly coveted ingredient, the menu entry falls through the cracks. As bad news never comes alone, the young woman also learns that Teyssier is already seated. In addition, the director of the Institute has just been informed of the presence of truffle on the daily menu. Anaïs therefore has no room for error. After a long moment of reflection, she tries to find a solution and informs her clerks: “You start with the preparations, I review the recipe, Billie, you don’t change anything and you announce the dish.” But she’s stuck on the recipe. She takes out of her pocket the boosters that Sam gave her the day before, but quickly puts them away when she sees Milan approaching. The first year student offers to help him and submits some ideas. Anaïs then manages to design a new approach for the entrance.
In the afternoon, she calls Teyssier in the Institute grounds to get his opinion on her new entrance. The director of the Institute admits that he appreciated his recipe. He thought it was daring, more than anything else on the menu. He then warns Anaïs against her upcoming event on Friday. Not only does it involve his name, but also his reputation. If she fails, everyone in the kitchen community will think she’s a boring, uninspired chef. Anais says that won’t happen because she has a bunch of recipe ideas.
Jude, for his part, joins Vic and Enzo in the park. He learned that Anais was looking for truffles for the lunch service. He’s sorry because he didn’t know the brigade needed it. Vic explains to her that it wasn’t planned and that Anais decided to add an entry to the menu at the last minute. She specifies that Milan managed to unblock Anaïs on her entrance. Vic admits that she herself was impressed.
Milan joins Anaïs in the kitchens of Double A. The young woman informs him that Teyssier appreciated their entry. She adds that she was thinking of putting it on the menu of her event menu only, they have to change the name. She emphasizes that this starter is as much her idea as hers and that she said to herself that they could start from this recipe to create the menu. Milan is surprised by this about-face. He agrees to work with her on the condition that she admits that she was wrong for not wanting to work with him. Anaïs admits to him that she feared that he would upset all her bearings, but that is precisely what happened. Their hands brush. The young woman finally clarifies that this suits her. They exchange a passionate kiss
