This is the starting frame of The Cagea thrilling new series from Netflix signed by the man who also created Valid on Canal+. After a first season of only five episodes which naturally very quickly moved to the top of the Top most viewed series on the platform, many spectators are asking for a sequel.
A season 2 for The Cage sur Netflix ?
So a season 2, yes or no? After having achieved the feat of involving major MMA figures such as Georges Saint-Pierre, Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane, Franck Gastambide is ready to take up the challenge of continuing a series whose end indeed seems open. In an interview with Technikarthe did not close the door, even evoking a possible plot line: “What could be interesting for a sequel is to deal with the violence outside the cage, that of social networks and the public being intransigent with the fighters.” The success of the series could speed things up and lead Netflix to order a sequel. But nothing says that it could arrive quickly, Franck Gastambide is currently already working on season 3 of Valid for Canal+.
Franck Gastambide explains the end of season 1 of The Cage
Spoiler alert. Questioned by our colleagues from Tele-Leisure, Franck Gastambide justified the shock end of season 1. After a decisive victory which opened the doors to the UFC, Taylor was in fact betrayed by his friend who wanted to bring him down for doping. An ending which was not unanimous among the co-writers of the director of Taxi 5. “As for ValidI was the only one to believe in this dramatic ending,” he admits. “This ending was divisive, but hey, it turns out I'm the one who decides, he continues. The reality of this last scene is that I wanted to say that we sometimes surround ourselves, because of self-confidence problems, with bad people. In this case, Taylor places his trust in a person who wants his best, until jealousy takes over. I wanted to show a horrible betrayal, but one that we can humanly understand, even if we don't excuse it. I didn't invent anything, that's what we find in Alexandre Dumas, in Le Comte de Monte Cristo : This is all the cruelty that jealousy can engender in someone. That's what the end of the series is about.” An ending that gives hope for a thrilling sequel!
