It is often difficult to embark on a series that is too long. In fact, we sometimes have difficulty motivating ourselves for a creation which may well never end, or even end without a real end if the streaming platform decides to abruptly cancel it.
Miniseries have therefore become a natural refuge for wary viewers, and as a three-day weekend begins (for all those lucky enough to enjoy it), we said to ourselves that it was the right time to recommend 4 gems released recently.
A perfect couple

This six-episode Netflix series adapts the best-selling novel of the same name by Elin Hilderbrand. An American couple organizes a lavish wedding on Nantucket, an island located in Massachusetts. But nothing goes as planned, and a body is finally found on the port just a few hours before the start of the ceremony.
We then try to find out who the culprit is and everyone is more or less suspect. By the admission of all those who have watched it, this production is particularly addictive and we follow the episodes at lightning speed. The writers also know how to lighten the atmosphere with a touch of humor that hits the mark.
Worship
The year is 2001. M6 then embarks on an adventure that will revolutionize television. His reality TV show, Loft Story, shakes up the codes and shocks. We particularly appreciated this Amazon Prime Video production which includes six episodes:
From the first minutes of episode 1, Culte grabs us and promises us a thrilling series. The pace is frantic and perfectly controlled and we quickly get into the game. Who could have predicted that the creation of the first French reality TV could be so captivating? Not us. However, this is indeed the case.

Presumed Innocent
The apple brand hits hard with this creation adapted from the eponymous book released in 1987, which has already been brought to the screen in a film by Alan J. Pakula with Harrison Ford. Here, we follow the daily life of Rusty Sabich (Jake Gyllenhaal) who is the chief deputy district attorney of Chicago and works under the orders of Raymond Horgan (Bill Camp).
His life is turned upside down after the assassination of Carolyn Polhemus (Renate Reinsve), another rising star in the prosecutor’s office. The case is entrusted to Rusty, but we quickly learn that the latter had formed a torrid romantic relationship with the deceased… We recommend this little gem which even manages to surprise all those who already know the original story.
The Cage
In this 5-episode Netflix series, we follow the story of a young man, Taylor, who has only one dream: to become an MMA professional. That’s when destiny knocks at his door. He is offered an unusual opponent and the fighter is determined to take advantage of it.
Our colleagues from Journal du Geek particularly liked this production by Franck Gastambide:
We cannot say that La Cage stands out for its scenario that is too close to its Balboesque model nor for its casting which does what it can with what it is asked to play. Nevertheless, its sincere and well-delivered declaration of love for MMA and its practitioners makes the series a treat for those who appreciate the sport. A difficult fight, but in the end, only victory counts and Franck Gastambide wins his belt.
Please note that we have deliberately chosen to stick to mini-series that you can watch in a single weekend. Of course, you can also opt for slightly longer formats and we particularly recommend Arcane season 2 of which has just been released on Netflix, or even Silo et Slow Horses on Apple TV+.
