Between new products and nuggets to rediscover, we search the catalogs of television channels and platforms and we meet you every Friday for some recommendations.

To see this weekend: “The cage” (Netflix)

First French series on MMA, this is enough to attract curiosity. Even more so when we know that legends of the discipline like the Canadian Georges St-Pierre and the American Jon Jones play their own role. In five episodes, “The Cage” tells the story of the rise of a young MMA champion, performed by Melvin Boomer, who dreams of going pro. A classic but nevertheless effective story which is reminiscent of that of “Rocky”. Its designer and director Franck Gastambide, a big fan of this combat sport, has reserved the role of trainer for himself, hat always screwed on his head.

It's a life punctuated by the hunt for likes. “Children are kings”, series freely adapted from the novel of the same name by Delphine de Vigan, with Doria Tillierand Géraldine Nakache, points out the drift of social networks where children are filmed all day long, guided by the passion for “unboxing”, opening packages and consuming ever more. An activity that allows their parents to gain popularity and remuneration. In this life where everything is documented almost minute by minute, where the innocence of young children is thrown out to pasture to anonymous people, young Kimmy Diore, star of You Tube, is kidnapped in broad daylight. We follow the investigation to save her. And if in the end, the little girl is not saved by escaping this life…

Coming soon: “Hippocrates 3”, season 3 (Canal +)

(Par Claire Stevens)
Bloodless staff, overloaded emergencies, technocracy which rhymes a glaring lack of resources with absolute cynicism: in this third season, still written and produced by him, Thomas Lilti describes a post-Covid French hospital with the air of Titanic. The observation is implacable, the demonstration hyperrealistic. In the midst of the shipwreck, a handful of caregivers see their humanism undermined by the violence of their daily lives. Impeccable in white coats, Bouli Lanners, Louise Bourgoin, Alice Belaïdi and Karim Leklou then try to stand up against the established order. Is rebelling also healing? Response in six high-tension episodes… “Hippocrates”, public utility series.

Announcement of the week: “The Bureau of Legends” will have a sequel

The eyes of fans of Malotru, Phénomène and Moule à Waffles are already shining. “Bureau des Légendes” producer Alex Berger has just announced that a project is “in development” to continue the series. “The working title is “The Africa Office”. We already have several scenarios, but for the moment it remains a project in development,” he told AFP. This time, our French secret agents will be on the African continent. Where and when? We don't know any more. The producer refused to give the start date of possible filming and the country in which the plot would take place. When the idea began to germinate, in 2021, five countries were in the running. But the choice is now reduced after the Sahelian putsch. “The idea was to be able to leave enough time between the two series, so as not to leave behind a simple sequel,” continued the producer. I don’t think it will be a season six… though! »
