Will the series with Éric Cantona have a season 2?

After four episodes of Murder Club, the M6 miniseries, Eric Cantona and Tiphaine Daviot bow out this Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Forever or will they be back for a season 2? They respond.

Tuesday November 5, M6 broadcasts the last two episodes of Murder Club (our opinion), the miniseries with Tiphaine Daviot and Eric Cantona. A fiction that begins as a comedy and turns into a thriller with the hunt for Shakespeare, a serial killer who has been plaguing the north of for several years. If the case is resolved at the end of the evening, it is normal to wonder if this young, slightly overzealous little girl and this drifting criminologist whose appearance is inspired by a famous singer will meet again on the occasion of a new investigation.

Murder Club : Will there be a season 2?

Imagined as a miniseries, with the arrest of the culprit at the end, there is currently no question of a sequel. But since nothing is ever set in stone, even less when it comes to fiction, the door remains voluntarily open, as evidenced not only by the package left on the doorstep of Amélia's mother but also by the axis camera which suggests that someone is observing him. So if finally the direction of a season 2 was taken, would Eric Cantona and Tiphaine Daviot be up for it? “Yes, definitely, of course,” responds enthusiastically the interpreter of the whimsical Amélia Delcourt, met a few weeks before the launch of the series. A feeling shared by Eric Cantona, obviously more measured: “If we’re not up for it, there’s no series!”
As for whether they have imagined what could happen to their character if there was a sequel, the actors prefer the pleasure of surprise, as Tiphaine Daviot explains. “I don't think about that kind of stuff at all. When it's been several seasons, maybe you have desires for your character but for now I like the Kinder Surprise side, the pleasure of “to be… surprised. I always find it more fun than I could have imagined. It's like a gift and it would be a bit of a Christmas loss if I knew.”

“My family makes fun of me!” : Tiphaine Daviot’s confidences on her roles as a cop

If Tiphaine Daviot rehearsed her fight scenes with the stunt coordinator and stunt double for Jean-Claude Van Damme, she did not need to meet real police officers to be inspired. “I've already played a lot of cops, recalls the actress, and I have plenty of them in my family on my father's side. Every time, they make fun of me because I play it often. Between my family and everything we see on , we are fed up. So I didn't have any particular method to play Amélia. When it's well written, all you have to do is jump into it. And then I wanted to tell my own story. Amélia is outside the codes. I wanted her to tell herself to death, to be a bit rubbish but fair. I love the fact that she shows off when she really has nothing to do. It's great to have a character who is so confident in himself as he pedals through the semolina but never loses face.”
