The great lady, who helped to demystify many taboos, confided during her appearance on the talk show that she felt a lot of pain due to the criticism leveled at her over the years. She opened up on this subject after the host Jean-Michel Anctil asked her how she felt about the love and recognition she has been receiving for some time.

“(…) Perhaps it’s harvest time (…) I also say to myself, because now, it’s really… it’s late, mind you. But as I am praised a lot, I have been criticized a lot, a lot. I was criticized, for example, when television was made with the elite. I had heartfelt mail, heartfelt mail was despicable. So, for me to receive compliments… correct,” says Janette first and foremost.

It was subsequently that co-host Julie Bélanger wanted to know how Ms. Bertrand had lived with these criticisms.

“It devastated me. I wrote a play with Juliette Huot called: Tell me if I’m disturbingit was the story of a woman who wanted to commit suicide and who called her ex-husband, the children (…) And there were three reviews the next day, one which demolished me, the other two which praised me. Well, it’s the one that demolishes me that I said: He understood. That’s what it’s like to have no self-esteem. So, what I want to do with old people is to give them self-esteem (…),” adds Janette, giving an example of criticism that has affected her over the years, also wanting to change things for his generation.
