Pierre Garnier (Star Academy) “disturbed” by his notoriety: “You start to think about all your actions…”

First album, solo tour, tracks that became hits and covered everywhere, a duet with Matt Pokora… Since his victory at the Star Academy 2023, Pierre Garnier has had a string of successes. Became an essential artist of French song with his album Every secondwho has just exceeded 100,000 sales in four months, the singer, only 22 years old, talks about this new notoriety he is discovering and the pressure of the music world. On the occasion of his participation in the RTL2 Pop Rock Live concert at the Trianon, which was held on October 4, he confided to Pure Chart: “It’s true that this job requires a certain pressure: we are constantly being watched, our actions are watched, we are put under pressure to do things well. Obviously, we have to be fairly straight in our sneakers and mentally strong to manage to stay there and not forget yourself.”

“I think it really depends on people’s personalities. continues Pierre Garnier. It’s definitely work and it’s not easy. It’s a lot of pressure but it’s also a lot of fun! You have to manage to find the in-between so as not to get lost.” Having gone from the shadows to the light almost overnight, the former sidekick of Heléna Bailly recognizes “that it’s hard to get used to it “although he tries to “don’t pay too much attention to it”. Passionate about music, he pursued his career by trying to “stay with [sa] normal life. But it’s true that it can be very disturbing because you start to think about all your actions, more than before naturally.”

Pierre Garnier reacts to public criticism

Despite the looks turned towards him, he tries “to stay as natural as possible”: “I’m not too in control, otherwise we get lost in wanting to control everything, all the time”, recognizes the singer of the title Those we weret. Very popular with the public, Pierre Garnier is also entitled to inappropriate comments from certain haters. Target of criticism, he explains to our colleagues that some are “interesting”: “I can use them because I find them constructive. Sometimes I listen to people who say that they didn’t like something and I tell myself that I could have done that differently”.

However, the singer nuances: “Afterwards, there are critics to criticize and I really try to ignore that.” But “in general”the public shows itself “fairly respectful”: “Either he gives me advice, providing constructive criticism, or he’s happy so that’s fine with me!”
