An agreement signed between TF1 and cinema organizations

In a press release published on Thursday, October 17, the TF1 group announced the signing of an agreement with the BLIC cinema organizations (Association of Independent Producers, National Federation of Film Publishers, National Federation of French Cinemas, Federation of Cinema Industries, of audiovisual and multimedia, and Syndicate of digital video publishing), of the BLOC (Association of independent cinema for its diffusion, AnimFrance, European independent distributors united, National group of research cinemas, French guild of screenwriters, Screenwriters of associated cinema, Society of Film Directors, Union of Independent Distributors, French Union of Performers, French Union of Artistic and Literary Agents, National Union of Authors and Composers, Union of Professionals in the Audiovisual and Cinema Industries , Union of Independent Producers and Union of Cinema Producers) and the filmmakers of the ARP.

This agreement, covering the next three years, provides for increased support from TF1 for the seventh art. The group led by Rodolphe Belmer intends to take advantage of this to better support changes in public usage. “This balanced agreement demonstrates the common ambition to strengthen the sector through positive partnerships, the fruit of inter-professional negotiations adapted to the economic challenges of publishers and is part of a context of modernization of the rights necessary for the digital transformation of the TF1 group. also reflects the reaffirmed relationship of trust which unites the TF1 group and the cinema sector, their commitment to supporting French and European cinematographic creation, in all its diversity.”he specifies.

The signing of this agreement also gives rise to an increase in investments in pre-purchases and purchases by the TF1 group in favor of French and European cinematographic creation. Rodolphe Belmer’s group has committed to pre-financing at least an average of 19 films or original French-language films per year (compared to 17 films in the 2021 agreement). Under the terms of the agreement, the TF1 group undertakes to invest a minimum of 19.2 million euros per year in purchasing broadcasting or exploitation rights for European cinematographic works. Another development is the expansion of the exhibition of works on its TF1+ streaming platform: the agreement provides for replay exploitation of pre-financed cinematographic works for 30 days (vs. 7 days) on the free TF1+ streaming platform.
