Philippe Corbé leaves BFMTV in turn

MEDIA – The bleeding continues. After the news director and general director of the channel, it is the turn of the editorial director of BFMTV to pack up. Philippe Corbé is on the start, preceded by Hervé Beroud and Marc-Olivier Fogiel. The big move continues at BFMTV, a few months after the announcement of the acquisition of Altice Media and therefore of the continuous news channel by Rodolphe Saadé, owner of the French shipowner CMA CGM already owner of the daily newspapers. Provence et Corse-Matin.

On July 2, the billionaire officially became the owner of Altice Media. The transaction was concluded in March for an amount of 1.55 billion euros. A change of flag which had immediate consequences with firstly the departure of Arthur Dreyfuss from the management of Altice Media and his replacement by Nicolas de Tavernost (ex-M6).

As confirmed by our colleagues at Parisianthe upheaval continues. This Monday, October 14, Philippe Corbé will announce his departure to the teams. He has held the position of editorial director since April 2023, after having been head of the channel’s political department for two years. It is in particular a voice and a face that listeners and viewers found daily in the morning political interview. Before that, Philippe Corbé had been a correspondent in New York for RTL. Always according to The Parisianother faces of BFMTV are leaving the Altice Media ship: Nicolas Marut, current deputy editorial director and Julien Mielcarek, deputy director of digital information at BFMTV and RMC.

Serial departures

These departures come a little less than two months after those of Hervé Beroud, director of information, replaced by Jean-Philippe Baille (former director of information at Radio and director of France Info) and Marc-Olivier Fogiel, general director of the channel replaced by Fabien Namias (former deputy general director of LCI).

Altice Media has not yet confirmed who will succeed Philippe Corbé as editorial director, but The Parisian suggests that a name is already anticipated. This would be Emmanuel Renard, current editorial director of RMC and RMC Sport and formerly of Europe 1.

This new wave of departures is undoubtedly not the last. Indeed, following the acquisition by CMA CGM, journalists benefit from a transfer clause open from October 1 to May 31. The latter allows those who wish to leave their positions with comfortable financial compensation: one month’s salary per year of seniority. An agreement specific to press rights during a change of shareholder, which was for example used by almost half of the journalists during the takeover of Prisma Media by Vincent Bolloré and the Vivendi group in 2022.
