Thomas Soulié, Philippe Corbé, Perrine Vasque… After the takeover of BFMTV and the departure of Marc-Olivier Fogiel, several journalists are leaving the news channel

A new wind is blowing on BFMTV. After the successive departures of directors Arthur Dreyfuss, who were at the head of Altice Media, Hervé Béroud and Marc-Olivier Fogiel, a second wave is emerging this time among executives and within the editorial staff. The purchase of the parent company by Rodolphe Saadé in the middle of the summer – the CEO of CMA CGM succeeded Patrick Drahi (Altice) in this role – in fact triggered the opening of a transfer clause to BFMTV, classic press law procedure which applies in the event of a change of shareholder. Since October 1 – and until May 31, 2025 – journalists who wish will be able to leave the company with one month’s salary per year of seniority.

Philippe Corbé and Nicolas Marut leave the heads of the editorial team

According to information from “Parisien” published this Sunday, October 13, 2024 and which Puremédias is able to confirm, Philippe Corbé, editorial director of BFMTV and trusted man of Marc-Olivier Fogiel, and Nicolas Maruthis deputy, announced his departure to the journalists of the news channel this Monday, October 14, 2024. The tandem had been at the head of the editorial staff of the news channel since spring 2023. Philippe Cordé’s replacement “will be appointed in the coming days“, Fabien Namias, new boss of BFMTV, told the editorial staff this Monday. “It’s someone from the group“, he said. Emmanuel Renard, editorial head of RMC, would, according to “Le Parisien”, be considered for the position.

Among the other starters, at the digital pole, Julien Mielcarek, deputy director of digital information at BFM-RMC, leaves the channel just a few days after the completion of BFM 2. Puremédias can also confirm that Thomas Souliédeputy head of the political department of BFMTV, will join “Le Parisien-Aujourd’hui en ” from Monday November 4, 2024 as a senior reporter in the political department. Perrine Vasquea journalist in the same service, also decided to take the clause. “Le Parisien” finally announces that Christophe Personpresenter and head of the weather and climate service, Celine Piteletpresenter of “Week-end direct”, and Stéphane Sellami, major police-justice reporter leaving for “ Match”, decided to turn the page on BFMTV. Before them, Candice Mahout, former head of the culture department, was poached by “Bonjour!” and Bruce Toussaint on TF1.

This wave of departures comes at a time when Jean-Philippe Baille and Fabien Namias take up their respective positions as deputy director of information at RMC BFM and general director of BFMTV. The tandem, appointed by the new shareholder represented by the former boss of M6 Nicolas de Tavernost, arrives at a pivotal moment for channel 15, whose leadership is more threatened than ever. Since the start of the season, CNews, stronger than BFMTV in September 2024, is more powerful than its opponent almost every weekday.
