“It’s a channel dedicated to Cyril Hanouna”: Patrick Sabatier reveals the real reasons for his departure from C8

The C of C8 for Cyril Hanouna? Patrick Sabatier, just like Thierry Ardisson, is convinced of this, he who was able to take the temperature of the place for a few months in 2018. At the time, the former star presenter of the front page landed on C8 to relaunch one of its flagship programs “Avis de recherche” under a new name “We meet at Sabatier”. If the first number with the band leader of “Touche pas à mon poste” as the main guest works, the failure of the next two forces the leaders of the group to stop the bleeding. “We may have been a little wrong. We left with the ‘Sabatier’ springs, reunion with the class photo, etc. As we saw, it worked very well with Cyril Hanouna. Afterwards with two other guests, it was weaker so we are not going back to this concept”, Lionel Stan, general manager of H2O Productions, then explained, who reserved the same fate for “Friday Truth: 60 Minutes”. He then explains “work on other ideas” with its new host. But right now, there will never be…

Patrick Sabatier too demanding for C8?

Guest of “Buzz TV” this Wednesday, October 9, 2024 to discuss his new novel, the author of “Don’t tell Paul especially” returned to the context of his hasty departure, which partly attributes it to the omnipresence of its strong link. “C8 is a special channel because it is dedicated to Cyril Hanouna”, assures the one who did not leave angry with the leaders of the group. “We saw that it was very difficult to impose other animators. I was asking for resources that C8 perhaps couldn’t give me. I would also have liked programming regularity but it was impossible”he stressed.

Disagree with Arcom’s decision

In the absence of a proposal, Patrick Sabatier went to see if the grass was greener elsewhere, notably on Europe 1, before devoting himself to writing. And if he is not inclined to reconnect with the small screen, the septuagenarian keeps a close eye on media news, and in particular the withdrawal of the C8 frequency. “It’s unfortunate, whether you like his shows or not. I imagine that Arcom must have strong arguments to make this decision. But in principle, closing a channel seems risky to me.” he steps forward. “TV is simple: there are those who make it and those who watch it. If there are enough viewers and they subscribe to it, a channel must exist! Freedom is found in plurality”, he concludes.
