TV program: HPI, Steeltown Murders… what to watch on TV this evening?

Continuation and end of season 4 of HPIat 9:10 p.m. on TF1. Morgane, on maternity leave, is supposed to take some rest while waiting to give birth. But that’s easier said than done for the young woman, because that doesn’t stop her from sticking her nose in an ongoing affair. Indeed, she has a lot of free time but cannot sit still, especially when she feels that she can help solve the case. From the start, she knows the identity of the perpetrator and will do everything to unmask him. To do this, she will have to redouble her imagination and inventiveness to stay in contact with the culprit, even if it means endangering the end of her pregnancy…

A 20h55 sur until offers the new series Steeltown Murders. In 1973, in South Wales, two 16-year-old girls, Geraldine Hughes and Pauline Floyd, were found strangled in a wood after being raped. Out dancing the previous Saturday evening in Swansea, the two friends, one a worker and the other a saleswoman, were last seen there in the back of a white Austin 1100, driven by a man. Three months earlier, in a nearby town, Sandra Newton, 16, was also murdered in the same way. But despite the insistence of an intuitive young investigator, Paul Bethell, the police hierarchy refuses to link the three murders. Thirty years later, in 2002, Paul Bethell, still haunted by this botched investigation, managed to reopen the research thanks to new identification techniques based on DNA…

5 broadcasts the documentary at 9:10 p.m. Palmyra, at the crossroads of worlds. Archaeologists reveal the secrets of the legendary city of Palmyra, a prosperous city and an unrivaled place of commerce two thousand years ago… Supported by the testimonies of archaeologists, historians and restoration specialists, this documentary reveals an inventory of Palmyra (Syria), a radiant city partly destroyed in 2015 by the terrorist organization Daesh. Despite some lengths, the reconstruction work that is told to us remains fascinating.

We end this selection with, the thriller Zodiac at 9:05 p.m. Honey 25. San Francisco, December 20, 1968. Two teenagers are murdered in a parking lot. Around forty other murders as brutal as they were unexplained followed until the end of the 1970s. Their author: a psychopathic killer called Zodiac… Interweaving characters and intrigues to the sound of fantastic period music, David Fincher delivers a fascinating work, a bit in the tradition of “The President’s Men”, which combines mystery, suspense and careful reconstruction of an America prey to its darkest demons. Addictive and exciting from start to finish despite its length, this “Zodiac” is definitely an excellent sign!
