This Monday, January 20, France 2 broadcasts the last two episodes of Shoresits event series focused on the environment. Is a season 2 planned?
Three weeks ago, France 2 began broadcasting Shoresits new event series at the start of 2025. Fleur Geffrier and Guillaume Labbé embody this environmental fiction which tells the tragic story of the sinking of the trawler Rosa Davies in the Bay of Fécamp. But a sign that this shipwreck is mysterious, all the fishermen who were on board the boat have disappeared. The research mission is entrusted to Abigail, a young oceanologist who has experienced a family tragedy. At the heart of her investigation, she must collaborate with Quartermaster Prigent and the two heroes realize that something in the water is preventing the beacons and sonars from working correctly. Abigail and Quartermaster Prigent will therefore search the seabed, an opportunity for viewers to completely immerse themselves in this extraordinary investigation.
Shores : an extraordinary shoot
Bringing together between 2.3 and 3 million viewers, Shores experienced a significant drop in audience on France 2 despite the means used by the public channel. In fact, the filming premises were moved to a huge aquatic studio located in Brussels. With several film sets and a 10 meter deep pool, the complex makes it possible to give the aquatic scenes a realistic feel. To carry out this tailor-made role, Fleur Geffrier passed her maritime code, her boat license and completed her first dive in just a few weeks. “I was passionate about trying to understand her and what she was going through. She is a heroine: she dives, she confronts many things, her past, what is happening in the Bay of Fécamp. She goes there, exorcises her demons. She tries to go further. She challenges herself”, the actress said about the complexity of her character.
Shores : a season 2 planned?
While the last two episodes of Shores are broadcast this Monday, January 20 from 9:10 p.m., will a season 2 see the light of day? France 2 and Kabo, the format's production company, have confirmed that “Shores is a six-episode format, so there will be no second season.”
