Ivory Coast: dismissed from the RTI, Fausseni Dembélé takes the reins of the AIP

A new assignment has just been announced for Fausseni Dembélé, former director general of Radiodiffusion Télévision Ivoirienne (RTI).

According to an RTI press release published this Friday, January 10, 2025, he was appointed head of the Ivorian Press Agency (AIP).

He succeeds Oumou Barry Sana who has held this position since 2017 and who is exercising his retirement rights.

Ms. Sana devoted more than 15 years of her career to the AIP, first as deputy director and then as central director.

The handover is scheduled for January 16, 2025.

Remember that Fausseni Dembélé was relieved of his duties at RTI on July 10, 2024, following a council of ministers.

“Following the first findings resulting from these controls, the Head of State decided to relieve from their respective functions the Director General of the Cotton-Cashew Council and the Director General of Ivorian Radio and Television”, said government spokesperson and Minister of Communication, Amadou Coulibaly.

The government then mentioned “dysfunctions and problems of governance and management” within the public channel.

With this new appointment, Fausseni Dembélé begins a new chapter in his career within the Ivorian media landscape.
