A little tour… and then it’s gone. Announced several weeks ago in the casting of “The Island: L’île au bagne” on M 6, Carine Galli was only briefly seen by viewers this Tuesday, January 7. The cause was an unfortunate fall while she was still at the hotel which accommodated the candidates before their departure for the desert island.

The Six’s docu-adventure returned this Tuesday evening for a new season with ten celebrities. They agreed to leave for almost a month on a desert island, on which they had to survive on their own after a short survival training provided by the explorer Loury Lag. With them, three cameramen and a doctor brought the total to 14 people present on the island.

“I am more than disappointed”

Carine Galli thus received the lessons of the adventurer “on a deserted beach in the south of Thailand”, a few hours before the start of filming on the island of Ko Tarutao. But shortly before leaving for the adventure site, the football specialist “missed a step”, which required her treatment by the hospital in Bangkok (Thailand).

The 39-year-old host and journalist “fell and fell to the ground” and injured her right ankle. Loury Lag then told him that the teams would not take the risk of sending him to the island, in particular because of the terrain “too dangerous, too steep, too risky”. Medical examinations later revealed that she had suffered a triple ankle fracture. “I am beyond disappointed,” she told the show’s cameras in tears. “It’s something important for me to surpass myself, to do that. I told myself that it would definitely help me move forward,” she reacted.

This injury did not only have consequences on her participation in this program: Carine Galli had to give up covering Euro 2024 football which was held in June and July in Germany. She was thus replaced by Laurie Samama on the sidelines and instead wrote a column on the set of the show “100% Euro”. The program only attracted 1.16 million curious viewers, or 7.1% of the public, which places the channel in fourth position for the evening.
