For several hours, it has no longer been possible to consult a hundred sites dedicated to illegal streaming.

The fight against illegal streaming sites continues. The American authorities announced that they had closed no less than 138 sites dedicated to this activity throughout the month of December.

The latter, which represented more than 800,000 cumulative annual visitors, allowed access to platforms or channels requiring a specific subscription, including Canal+, the platform broadcasting Ligue 1 DAZN, Bein Sports or even Netflix and Max.

Sites based in Vietnam

Although most users were located in the United States and Canada, these sites nevertheless had an international reach.

This series of closures is due to the reporting of The Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE), which is made up of several major Hollywood studios, such as Sony Pictures, Universal, Warner Bros. and Walt Disney.

The sites concerned were mostly hosted in Vietnam and focused on sporting events. Illegal streaming of sport, and particularly football, will explode in 2024 with the redistribution of rights. DAZN, which had been criticized for its very high subscription price, was one of the main victims. Pirate sites were then distributed via groups on Telegram.

If these sites allowed access to paid channels and platforms without spending the required subscription, this did not prevent them from demanding a financial contribution.

In Europe too, raids are regular. The latest one is the most impressive: it concerned an illegal IPTV network used by more than 22 million users.
