At the beginning, there is this memorable credits, as haunting as it is fascinating. A razor sliding across a cheek, a knife cutting bacon, an egg bursting, drops of coffee… So many innocuous, everyday details and gestures, which, filmed in close-ups, suddenly take on a new and disturbing intensity. This production wonderfully captures the duality of the man who quickly became an iconic series character: Dexter. A normal-looking, shy and charming forensic expert who hides his true nature as a meticulous serial killer. Who would have deserved to see their adventures end in style. But that was not the case!
Broadcast from 2006 to 2013 on Showtime, Dexter immediately captivated thanks to its daring narrative bias, making the main protagonist an atypical antihero, both serial killer and vigilante. The series immersed us in the infinitely complex psyche of Dexter Morgan, a sociopath with a moral “code” that was ambiguous to say the least (he only kills criminals). The success of the series is also due to the impeccable interpretation of Michael C. Hall, who won a Golden Globe in 2010 and a Screen Actors Guild Award for his performance.
