With his legendary career, Jean-Pierre Foucault is not never short of juicy anecdotes to share during his interviews. And, he proved it once again in We’re doing TV again on RTL facing Éric Dussart. This time, the host returned to a funny and memorable scene in the show Sacred Evening.
The presenter welcomed the novelist Barbara Cartland. The latter was known for her extravagant outfits and her love of pink, but what was less known was her very specific method to appear younger : and lifting artisanal.

But, then, how did the writer lift her skin naturally? “It was very simple”begins to tell Jean-Pierre Foucault. Everyone is already laughing around the set even though no one has heard the end of the story. Barbara Cartland lifted her cheeks, one by one, using plaster that she hid under a layer of powder. So she lifted herself, left side, right side, and no more wrinkles. The flagship host of Miss France explains her technique while mimicking the latter’s gestures.
Alas, the filming conditions of the time would quickly show the limits of his trick… Indeed, the first episodes of Quite an evening were filmed in the warehouses of Plaine Saint-Denis and there was no no air conditioning. “The heat was there”, remembers Jean-Pierre Foucault. Barbara Cartland made a remarkable entrance into a pink carriagebecause she loves this color.
But barely installed alongside the host, she stood out for something else, the drama happens live : “PAF, she takes 30 years on the left”, jokes Jean-Pierre Foucault when describing the moment when the plaster dropped. Result : one wrinkled cheek and the other flawless.

But that’s not all. The moment becomes even more disconcerting when, a few minutes later, the plaster on the other side explodes in turn. And the tape has finished on the figure of Jean-Pierre Foucault. An incredible story which did not fail to generate a general laughter on the set of RTL.
In any case, despite the situation, as a great professional, the host kept his seriousness. He even received a gift from Barbara Cartland “a golden gland”because she comes from a royal family. It was enough for Eric Dussart to ask him if he had offered him a roll of tape in return!
