It often happens that we arrive late to watch our evening film on the TNT channels. Good news, Internet boxes allow you to go back on the programs currently being broadcast to catch up. This is more commonly called live control. Bad news, TF1 has tackled this practice, and in particular the fact of being able to skip advertisements.
Clubic reveals that the TF1 group has asked Internet service providers (ISPs) to “block live control on your channels, at the time of advertising pages”. Orange, SFR, Free, Bouygues Telecom, and even myCanal are affected.
Wanting to catch up with the broadcast of Mom, I missed the planethe media also reports having seen the following message when it wanted to skip the advertising break of around 10 minutes: “At the request of TF1, this action is blocked during this advertising passage”.
We discover in passing that all the channels of the TF1 group are affected. TMC and TFX are therefore in the same boat. Having contacted TF1 to find out the reasons for this situation, Clubic was not entitled to any response to its requests.
Financial explanations still seem more than likely, particularly with regard to commitments to advertisers.
Our colleagues still have good news: a workaround solution. In fact, it is possible to avoid advertisements by changing channels, then returning to that of the TF1 group. You just have to come back at the desired time, after the commercial break, to resume your program.
