The Notre-Dame de l’Assomption Cathedral in Saint-Pierre vibrated on Thursday, December 12, during the Martinique final of the 7th edition of the Voix des Outre-mer competition. This evening rewarded Cédric Barabas, a 24-year-old wine merchant.
Cédric Barabas, wine merchant by profession, stood out this Thursday (December 12) during the final of the Voix des Outre-mer de Martinique 2024/2025 competition.
(Re)watch the finale:
The 24-year-old young man, who works in the field of sommellerie, has a long-standing passion for lyrical singing. He says he took advantage of the two masterclasses offered as part of the competition to perfect his vocal technique and adjust his voice.
I made sure to apply as much as possible the advice I was given and I tried to place my voice as accurately as possible to go from countertenor to tenor.

This lyrical meeting, founded in 2017 by the Martinican countertenor Fabrice di Falco and Julien Leleu, president of the Contre-Courants association, aims to promote young talents from overseas territories.
In front of a full cathedral, the seven finalists performed for more than two hours.
At the end of this competition, Cédric Barabas was able to capture the attention of the jury and the public, and won the Voix des Outre-mer de Martinique 2024/2025 Prize.
For Cédric Barabas, this recognition is also a step in a broader reflection concerning his artistic future.
This morning, I said to myself: “I’m going to the competition, I’m singing, I’m doing what I love. If it goes well, I’ll see how I organize myself with work.”
Passionate about wine, he does not hesitate to draw parallels between his profession and his passion for singing.
What I particularly like is the Argentinian Malbec, which is really rounded, like the voices that enveloped this church.
Thanks to his victory, Cédric Barabas advances to the grand national final of the Voix des Outre-mer competition, which will be held at the Auditorium of the Opéra Bastille in Paris.
For Cédric, this step represents an important moment in his journey.
When I started my studies, I wanted to pursue a career as a singer. I had this thought. To the question, if I win? My answer: wouldn’t I give it my all and try to make a career tomorrow?
The national final will be an opportunity for him to defend the colors of Martinique, on the prestigious Parisian stage, on January 8, 2025.
