Wednesday, December 11, during the stage expression course, Marlène Schaff deemed it necessary to remind Maïa as the Star Academy prime approached on Friday, December 13.
The announcement has finally come. Tuesday, December 10, after an interminable wait, the academicians received their teachers at the castle to find out the first names of the three immunizers of the week. As usual, this heavy task fell to Michael Goldman. By letting Ebony, Franck and Charles know that they had nothing to fear for the bonus on Friday December 13, the director therefore made Marguerite, Marine, Ulysse and Maïa understand that their future in the competition is compromised. But the four academicians have not said their last word! After having suffered the blow in their own way, the students got back on track and got to work.
Marlene Schaff (Star Academy) calms Maïa’s concerns as the prime approaches
Friday December 13, Maïa will try to save her place in the competition by notably performing a duet with her comrade, Marine, on the title Eternal Flame from The Bangles. To ensure that this resumption keeps all its promises, the academics were able to count on the valuable advice of Marlène Schaff. This December 11, after a first attempt which was intended to be convincing and promising for the stage expression teacher, she noticed that the feeling was not the same on Maïa’s side. “The tone at the beginning pushes me to put myself in a place in my voice that I don’t find particularly beautiful and on which I struggle. I have difficulty qualifying it“, she confided. Marlène Schaff then erased all her doubts, saying: “What’s funny is that when you started the song in that key, I said to myself: ‘My God… How beautiful!’ On the other hand, there is something that I don’t like and we are going to change it immediately!“
Marlene Schaff (Star Academy) makes a change a few days before the prime
Sitting down at the piano, Marlène Schaff asked Maïa to reinterpret one of the parts of the song. Throughout the words, the stage expression teacher once again modified the academician’s tone by adding a harmony, which, according to her, was enough to cause some shivers! “I’m not making you do that because I think when you’re at the top it’s ugly or you can’t do it…. It’s just that your tone in this area of your voice is velvet in my ears! It’s super intimate“, she said. And to ensure that the message got across, Marlène Schaff added: “I swear to you, on my life, that I would never tell you if I didn’t sincerely mean it!“
