The end of the series leaves many questions unanswered

Cat’s Eyes bowed out Monday evening on TF1. The live action adaptation of the cult Japanese cartoon (and manga) from the 1980s was a success for the first channel. The eighth and final episode attracted nearly 4 million viewers. After a record launch and very good figures on favorite commercial targets, and in a context of fierce competition with “L'amour est dans le pré”, on M6, Cat's Eyes undoubtedly gave full satisfaction to TF1.

On average, the series with Claire Romain, Camille Lou and Constance Labbé in the main roles will have attracted an average of 4.02 million viewers, or 21.3% of the entire public and 34.1% of “Responsible Women purchases under 50 years old. Figure to which must be added the 1.3 million viewers per episode on the replay. A very good result which places Cat’s Eyes behind Brocéliande (with Nolwenn Leroy) in terms of audience but well ahead regarding commercial targets.

Towards a season 2?

With such results, the question of a potential sequel seems settled. Especially since the season which has just ended ends on a cliffhanger. After finding their father, whom they believed to have died in the fire in his gallery, the three sisters lost sight of him again (in a somewhat incredible ending). Furthermore, the ending scene may have reminded some viewers that they were watching a prequel since we see Sylia, Tamara and Alex opening their café, named “Cat's Eyes”, as in the original manga. After the broadcast of this last episode, many fans complained about all the questions left unanswered. And also some inconsistencies…

Officially, season 2 has not yet been ordered by TF1, even if producers Benjamin Dupont-Jubien and Mehdi Sabbar have expressed their “desire” to continue. In any case, fans of “Cat's Eyes” will have to be patient before discovering, perhaps, the continuation of the adventures of Sylia, Tam and Alex.
