Outraged viewers expressed their anger after Knocked Loose’s performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week.

The British daily The Mirror gathered several fiery reactions following the musical concert on Tuesday (November 26), where the hardcore stars performed Suffocate alongside the atypical artist Poppy.

As expected, the anger generated is both hilarious and over-the-top. “I wanted to enjoy the show,” begins one Facebook user, before specifying that the performance was so brutal that it made his son cry. fils adolescent.

“I’m sitting on the couch with my TEENAGE son, waiting to see the musical guest because we love the beautiful music that the show usually invites. After the third or fourth “JUNT” of the guitars, my son was in tears. He doesn’t like scary things and frankly, I think Kimmel’s team should issue a formal apology.”

Other outraged viewers repeated the usual criticism leveled at metal in extreme voices: that they don’t understand the lyrics and that the music therefore loses all value.

“If I’m going to read the lyrics, I might as well read them without listening to someone scream,” says one. “It wasn’t singing, anyone can scream lyrics and get paid.”

Another Internet user adds, with many errors: “It was not pleasant. And you can’t understand more than 5% of the lyrics. Moshing doesn’t mean dancing.”

“How can I sing with that???” someone else asks. “LOL, that just sounds like a screaming frenzy to me!! It’s really starting to hurt my ears!! People listening to this have no right to complain about crying babies or two year olds throwing a tantrum!! Ha ha surreal!!! Do we call this Jimmy music??”

However, it’s not all bad. The Mirror turned to X (formerly Twitter) and found several people excited to see Knocked Loose on . One points out that experiencing music so different from the norm on national television could be inspiring for many people.

She writes: “A kid is going to stay up late tonight, watching Jimmy Kimmel, and hear Knocked Loose for the first time and he’s going to say, ‘I want to start a band like that’ and it’s going to change his life. That’s how important it is.”

Despite the wrath of parents, Knocked Loose is enjoying great success these days. Two weeks before the Kimmel concert, Suffocate was nominated for the 2025 Grammy for Best Metal Performance, competing against big names like Metallica, Judas Priest, Gojira and Spiritbox. The winner will be announced at the ceremony in Los Angeles on February 2.

The band is also scheduled to tour Europe and the UK next year. Here are the dates and details.

Viewers’ reaction to Knocked Loose’s performance highlights a fascinating aspect of our times: the dichotomy between mainstream culture and alternative musical expressions. While some feel an aversion to genres such as hardcore, the visibility of these artists on conventional platforms can also spark unexpected interest among new audiences. This raises pertinent questions about how music evolves and adapts, while questioning the limits of acceptability in the contemporary cultural landscape. It would be interesting to consider whether the advent of these expressions deemed “radical” could not, ultimately, enrich the global musical panorama.
