A new villain on the set of “The Diplomat”?

After two seasons filled with suspense and twists, we could see a new antagonist in the next season of “The Diplomat”. This captivating political series, broadcast on Netflix, could present a surprise in its casting. An actor who, until now, has played a fairly low-key role could take the lead.

A blow to Kate's ambitions

In season 2 of “The Diplomat,” Kate Wyler's dream of becoming vice president suffered a serious setback. Despite the difficulties, new President Grace Penn could still appoint her as his second, but that would seem more like a twisted power move than anything else. The future of Kate's character, played by Keri Russell, remains uncertain.

A more important role for Carole Lengetti?

Carole Lengetti, played by Laurel Lefkow, has had a very casual role thus far. Appearing only in two episodes, his character nevertheless seems to share a fairly close friendship with Kate. Their past professional relationship could suggest a mutual respect and one immense confidence. Carole could therefore become a central character in the third season of “The Diplomat”.

A twist for Carole?

It's also possible that Carole has been in Grace Penn's pocket this whole time, which would be an incredibly painful twist for Kate. So there remains a possibility that Carole was sent by Grace to monitor Kate during the investigation that took up most of the plot of “The Diplomat.”
