Since June 9 and the dissolution of the National Assembly, TV channels have increased the number of political guests and special programs. This system will intensify a few days before the election.

The channels are on time legislative . Since the dissolution of the National Assembly carried out by Emmanuel Macron on the evening of the European elections on June 9, 2024, they have completely changed their programming, both in terms of broadcasts and guests. Thus, in the weeks that followed, the TV sets of television news and talk shows saw candidates, politicians from all sides parade.

Last Wednesday, June 19, the program presented by Cyril Féraud, “Musiques en fête” which was initially to be broadcast on France 3, was repatriated to France 5 to make way for “Débats en Régions”. As of Friday June 21, France Télévisions has decided to cancel all episodes of “Un si grand soleil” until the end of the campaign, i.e. July 5. The soap opera is thus replaced by the “Official campaign for the legislative elections” program.

A few days before the first round of the legislative elections, the channels have intensified their efforts. This Tuesday, June 25, TF1 is organizing a debate between representatives of the three main parties, namely Gabriel Attal for the presidential majority, Manuel Bompard for the New Popular Front and Jordan Bardella for the National Rally. These exchanges will be punctuated by Gilles Bouleau and Anne-Claire Coudray from 9 p.m. and will replace the broadcast of the comedy First vacation with Jonathan Cohen and Camille Chamoux.

Exit “Special Envoy” and “The Golden Bachelor”

The next day, France 3 will broadcast a new edition of “Debates in the regions” at 9:10 p.m. Still in the public service group, “Envoyéspecial” with Élise Lucet and “Complément d’investigation” with Tristan Waleckx are canceled in favor of “L’Évènement” by Caroline Roux. She will host a new live debate with the main figures of these legislative elections.

For its part, M6 was to launch, on Thursday June 27, with one episode per week, a brand new reality TV program, “The Golden Bachelor”. Landry, the 60-year-old single gentleman, will have to wait for an indefinite period before seeing his romantic encounters broadcast. Instead, La Six has planned a new issue of “Capital” special for legislative elections with Julien Courbet. This time it will be focused on purchasing power, salaries and pensions. From Friday July 5, at 11:59 p.m., the electoral reserve period will begin, prohibiting the various parties from communicating about their respective programs until the results of the election, Sunday June 30 at 8 p.m.
