On July 24, 2024, Cyril Hanouna, his columnists, and his millions of viewers, learned that they would eventually see TPMP disappear. Indeed, the Regulatory Authority for Audiovisual and Digital Communication (Arcom) has chosen not to renew the broadcast frequencies of C8 et NRJ12.
Following this decision, the two channels concerned should therefore no longer broadcast from February 2025 and make way for channels offered by the group West France (OF TV) and the group of Czech Daniel Kretinsky, CMI France (RéelsTV).
However, it is not yet the end of C8 and Cyril Hanouna. On November 15, the eighth channel and NRJ12 will face the Council of State to contest the decision before the highest administrative court, the choice of Arcom.
A petition launched to save C8
Even before this decision, the channel which belongs to the group Canal decided to take action by launching a petition over the weekend, called “I support C8.” A few weeks before this petition was born, the presenter of TPMP expressed his motivation and his desire to fight to try to save the channel.
“TPMP will continue until February, end of February. The C8 channel will make numerous appeals so that the decision is not taken“, he promised. In fact, when he learned that a member of his team had failed and did not sign the petition to save the channel, he was very surprised.
Precisely, this Monday, November 11, 2024, Cyril Hanouna learned that one of his columnists had not yet taken the trouble to provide his support to C8. “Stop! A tragedy has just happened and the public has witnessed what has just happened”he said when the daily newspaper returned after the ad break. “No one says anything, did you sign the petition for C8?”he finally started to ask as he walked around the table.
A columnist by Cyril Hanouna has not yet signed it
While Guillaume Genton, Isabelle Morini-Bosc, and Géraldine Maillet, confirmed having signed the petition, Cyril Hanouna focused on Thomas Guénolé: “And he doesn't! He didn't sign the petition for C8. Thomas, what happened my darling?”. “I completely forgot”the main party tried to defend himself.
The opportunity for the presenter to TPMP to ironize: “Oh yes? I'm going to completely forget to pay you, you'll see. It's going to be funny to you”. After showing humor, “Baba” then proposed: “You don’t want to go and sign it right away? You are not essential on the show”.
A proposal accepted by the main interested party. “Marion, take him to the dungeon! You cut off his microphone and you also cut off his current salary thank you”then said Cyril Hanouna, always with humor, when his columnist left the set for a few minutes to sign the petition.
