A young MMA fighter trains like crazy to prove to the coach of the gym where he trains regularly that he can become a professional. Determined to get noticed, he agrees to fight unexpectedly against a very violent champion, Ibrahim, who humiliates and injures his opponents in videos that he posts on the networks. Will Taylor succeed in defeating this opponent who is stronger than him and convincing Boss to become his coach? This is the pitch of The Cage (our opinion), the series created by Franck Gastambide Season 1 of which is available on Netflix. The creator of Valid (to catch up on MyCANAL) convinced sports legends like Georges Saint-Pierre, Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane to make appearances in this fiction which alternates spectacular fight scenes and moments of emotion and concludes with a shocking final scene which leads to the question: will Franck Gastambide develop a season 2 of The Cage ?

Since being knocked out, Taylor has been experiencing a period of self-doubt and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) but refuses to talk to the doctor. But when it was time to enter the cage to face Ibrahim, Taylor panicked and gave up fighting. To help him find “The Eye of the Tiger”, Boss decides to use a radical method and takes him to fight in an underground championship, where the rules of sport do not apply. This decision will have dramatic consequences, particularly for Boss who finds himself between life and death… A few months later, Taylor is ready to take his revenge and prepares to face Ibrahim. After a tough fight, he managed to defeat him. It’s time for jubilation, but when celebrating this victory, Taylor is the victim of the worst betrayal…
The Cage : Will there be a season 2 of Franck Gastambide’s series on Netflix?
If by his own admission, Franck Gastambide assures not “not be an MMA specialist“, the 38-year-old Frenchman signed with The Cage“the first series in the world that takes place in the universe“of this booming combat sport which he says he is”a big fan“and that he discovered fifteen years earlier in Los Angeles. Initially destabilized by his violence, he finally “been stung” by this sport to which he signs a true love letter through his series. Asked about a possible sequel, in a video interview given to Technikart Magazine, Franck Gastambide did not deny that The Cage could have a sequel. The author, director and actor even imagined what plot he could develop in a potential season 2. “What we have seen in this sport in recent months, […]is that the public is intransigent with the fighters. The one who is at the top of the hype in a defeat […] will be the one who is mocked, the one in whom we lose interest. Finally, what can be interesting to deal with in a season 2 of La Cage, is that the greatest violence for a fighter is not ultimately in La Cage, it is much more now in the media world, in the networks, in the public which is intransigent. So maybe that can be the sequel to The Cage, the violence outside the cage too.” All hope is therefore not lost to see Boss and Taylor again in season 2 and that is rather good news!
