Géraldine Maillet gave an interview to Télé Star, on newsstands Monday October 28, 2024. The opportunity for the emblematic columnist of Touche pas à mon poste to discuss the future of the show, a few months before the closure of C8.
A model in the 1990s, Géraldine Maillet quickly became a novelist then a screenwriter, before becoming a television columnist. After joining Cyril Hanouna's gang in the show Les pieds dans le plat, on Europe 1, in 2014, she joined the team of columnists for Touche pas à mon poste, on C8. The opportunity for her to proclaim loudly what she thinks.
In an interview with Télé Star, on newsstands Monday October 28, 2024, Daniel Riolo's partner indicated: “I have always considered this show as a family dinner where everyone comes with their experience, their 'culture'. We oppose each other, we sometimes insult each other, no one plays a role“before specifying: “For seven years, I have never been asked to say things contrary to my beliefs”.
Géraldine Maillet: “We don’t know anything about the rest”
Asked about the future of the show following the non-renewal of the authorization to broadcast Arcom at C8, the columnist declared: “I find this decision so arbitrary and unfair for the 300 people who work for this channel and who will find themselves out of work. We don't know anything about what happens next. But match after match as the coaches say!”.
A few days earlier, for the Belgian media L'avenir, Géraldine Maillet had indicated that she hoped that the program presented by Cyril Hanouna would still have “a great future”. “It’s such a major television event, it’s such a show that has revolutionized the codes of TV, which has an exceptional longevity, which is live every evening”she listed, before adding: “It’s such a barnum that, suddenly,
I tell myself that this absolutely must continue.
And I hope it continues.”.
Géraldine Maillet: “Much happiness to millions of people”
Annoyed, the columnist blurted out: “I can't understand why such a show stops arbitrarily like that. Because it brings a lot of happiness to millions of people every evening. It's watched a lot in hospitals, in nursing homes. It's a space of freedom like a big family dinneran agora where we disagree, where we argue, we insult each other”.
Assuring not to be contacted by other channels for the moment, Géraldine Maillet added: “I don’t want to be courted. I am a very faithful woman. I am very satisfied, very fulfilled in what I'm doing now”.
