Actress Shannen Doherty is best known for her role as Brenda in the 1990s series Beverly Hills 90210 and for Prue’s in Charmed a few years later, to be seen again in full on Prime Video. However, the one who now suffers from cancer was revealed at the age of 11 by appearing in the successful soap opera The Little House On The Prairie. She played Jenny Wilder from 1982 to 1984. The series was a hit across the Atlantic, but also in France, from 1974 to 1983, then through multiple rebroadcasts. Having become cult over the years, it told the story of Charles Ingalls, his wife Caroline, their three daughters Mary, Laura and Carrie who, after leaving Wisconsin, settled in Walnut Grove in Minnesota in the 19th century. 205 episodes were released. Of his passage in The Little House On The Prairie, Shannen Doherty notably remembered her meeting with Michael Landon who played the patriarch. She, in fact, confided to The Hollywood Reporter that the latter had “stimulated” his passion for dramatic art.

As she revealed, her time in The Little House On The Prairie is engraved in his memory. “This series shaped me in many ways and remains the best experience of my entire career”said the star of Charmed. She also highlighted the close bond between her and Michael Landon: “I adored him. He was a mentor. He taught me so much”, she added. Shannen Doherty, who revealed that she had made a decision in anticipation of his death, then explained: “It’s quite surprising because, when I think about the length of my career, but also the difficulty of certain roles […], it’s really the experience from Little House on the Prairie who stimulated my passion for acting.”

Accused of having behaved “dangerous” on the set, Michael Landon, who died in 1991, was not spared by Karen Grassle, who played Caroline Ingalls, since she said she had bitter memories of her collaboration with the actor. As for Alison Arngrim, aka Nellie Oleson, she confirmed certain accusations. Unlike Melissa Gilbert, the unforgettable interpreter of Laura Ingalls, who took up her defense. Shannen Doherty did the same: “I don’t care about other people’s experiences, I know the truth about this man, and he was just incredible.” And the actress concludes on the subject: “He was so talented, so kind, so caring, and that really helped shape me. And he was incredibly caring to my whole family.”
