Gino Chouinard was a guest on the show Everyone is talking about it where he came to discuss his book 3800 morningswhich is already at the top of the book charts in Quebec.
He also discussed several aspects of his life, including his early career which was not very successful. During this period, he went through a phase of great financial precariousness.
Gino made this confession after the host Guy A. Lepage asked him why he had chosen to persevere, despite his difficult beginnings at TVA, where he had to work odd jobs at the same time, in order to succeed financially.
“I don’t know why I persevered, despite the pitfalls I had. Because there, people, you have seen the last 21 years which, all in all, have been great professional years (…) The image that people have of me is that it has always been easy. But the 12 years leading up to that weren’t always easy. Yes, I had a few shows on TV, but it never went further (…)”, testifies Gino.
He added that he almost gave up twice, even though it was what he really wanted to do with his life.
“One time when I was going to enroll in university, I was ready, I had been scrambling for maybe nine years with a little job to the other. Sometimes I went to the grocery store with my rolls of pennies black, then five pennies to go buy milk, then butter, then bread, to eat. Then at some point I said to myself: It’s enough, I can’t live there anymore, I absolutely have to go back to work and find another job (…)”, also reveals the former host of Hi Hello.
He did, however, have that little spark for the profession that never faded, and as we know, his career eventually took a superb turn, this time for good.
We can’t wait to discover Gino’s next projects!
