Making people love books, discovering beautiful, delicately illustrated stories, immersing themselves in a tale or listening to a beautiful story, this is the challenge that motivated the teacher in charge of CP/CE1 at the village elementary school, Marie-Paule Baron assistant for culture and Danièle Coronado assistant for schools. And the idea of this trio quickly took shape with a project to visit the Nathalie Sarraute de Soues library, worked in conjunction with Ms. Bardes from the TLP agglomeration in charge of the library network.
The date of April 30 was chosen and some 19 children took over the place for the afternoon. It was interesting to note that although the teacher had perfectly prepared this small group, the children immediately understood the purpose of the visit and remained particularly attentive and captivated by the activities offered. Michelle Pambrun, former municipal councilor and library volunteer, had carefully selected 3 stories to tell them after explaining to them how books were classified and how a library worked. Then, each child freely selected a book and quietly sat down to read it. The pleasure of reading was there, and it was clear that the young schoolchildren were taking a liking to this special time when the library was theirs alone for the afternoon. We even had to call them several times when it was time to go back to school.
A great experience to repeat with other classes so that tablets and cell phones are forgotten and the taste for books and knowledge can be transmitted to these young children.
Note that for several years now, the municipality has provided each school in the village with a small library managed by Isabelle in order to encourage children to enjoy reading and knowledge. We can only congratulate teachers and elected officials for organizing this wonderful afternoon for young schoolchildren. Remember that the library is located in the Jean Jaurès space and that it is open on Wednesday afternoons. A project is being studied in conjunction with the TLP agglomeration to be able to increase these opening hours to the public thanks to the presence of professionals on site.
