Boulogne-sur-Gesse. The forgotten by history: a thirteenth book for Jean-Claude Auriol

Immersed as a teenager in reading about events linked to the First World War, Jean-Claude Auriol continued to be interested in the Great War as an adult. This former banking executive began writing numerous books on the study of the German concentration camp system and the terrible enemy occupation during the First World War.

He has just published “The Army of Charity”, his latest book on the subject, the thirteenth. He completes his works which deal with the forgotten, those of whom History does not speak.

“The Army of Charity” describes a purely French institution during the 1914-1918 war, that of “war godmothers”.

“This Institution was poorly regarded by the French General Staff who feared espionage, and French society which cataloged these women as prostitutes. Despite this, the godmothers experienced great success and we will find them during the second conflict, including in current time for French soldiers in external operations”, specifies the author. This book is abundantly illustrated with documents and photos.

Jean-Claude Auriol is also a speaker. He often visits schools.
