Did you grow up with Melrose Place? We have very good news for you! – News Series

“Melrose Place” is set to reopen the doors of its famous apartment complex and three popular members of the original cast of the cult soap will be there…

And yes, it’s official, Melrose Place will soon be back on our small screens but be careful not with just anyone: Heather Locklear, Laura Leighton and Daphne Zuniga will reunite for a sequel to the essential soap of the 1990s. Indeed , according to Deadline, a reboot of the series, with the trio in question headlining, would be under development at CBS Studios and currently sold to channels and streaming platforms.

Written by Lauren Gussis (creator of the Netflix and CBS Studios series Insatiable), the new version of Melrose Place will resume its story years after the original series and will thus allow us to reconnect with the characters and discover where they are now – and one of them may no longer be in this world…

As reported by Deadline, in the new series, when one of their dearest friends dies suddenly, the original residents of Melrose Place come together to honor the deceased. But this reunion soon rekindles old traumas, old romances, old resentments and reveals new secrets of course, plunging the heroes into a chaotic drama reminiscent of the past, but with a much more modern perspective.

Heather Locklear, Laura Leighton And Daphne Zuniga should be at the center of this new version, reprising their cult roles of Amanda Woodward, Sydney Andrews and Jo Reynolds respectively. Laura Leighton And Daphne Zunigaamong others, should also be producers of the series.

As a reminder, Melrose Place, as well as its parent series, Beverly Hills, 90210, were created by Darren Star (Sex & the City, Emily in Paris), under Aaron Spelling Productions for Fox. The series, which aired for seven seasons from 1992 to 1999, followed the lives of a group of young adults living in an apartment complex on Melrose Place in the West Hollywood area of Los Angeles.

Heather Locklear appeared in all seven seasons, first intermittently in Season 1, before becoming a full-time cast member the following season. Daphne Zuniga was, for her part, a regular on the show during its first four seasons, while Laura Leighton starred in the first five seasons of the drama as a guest, before rising to prominence and becoming a full cast member.

Other feedback?

Other members of the original cast could also be back, according to Deadline. Among the regulars in the cast, we could find Marcia Cross, Thomas Calabro, Josie Bissett, Doug Savant, Grant Show, Courtney Thorne-Smith, Rob Estes, Brooke Langton, Kelly Rutherford, Kristin Davis, Alyssa Milano, David Charvet and Lisa Rinna . The latter, who heard the news, also expressed her interest in playing in this sequel.

Well, my God, I heard about it”, she told People. “I haven’t been approached or anything, but I’d love to see what Taylor McBride is doing 25 years later. Wouldn’t that be something?

The actress also said that working on Melrose Place and alongside “Heather [Locklear] and the whole team” was one of his “greatest and funniest acting experiences” : “I mean, it was just a great experience. So if they need a Taylor McBride appearance, they know who to call. I’m not far”, she added.

Moreover, a certain number of original actors, including Heather Locklear, Laura Leighton And Daphne Zuniga, have already reprized their roles as guests in the CW/CBS version of the series that was produced in 2009, Melrose Place, New Generation, which featured a whole new group of characters. The show only lasted one season, however. The new version in preparation should be more inspired by the original series than by the CW sequel in which the character of Laura Leighton was murdered.

Over the past two decades, CBS Studios has also revisited Beverly Hills, 90210 twice: with the 2008 reboot, 90210 Beverly Hills Next Generation, which aired on the CW for five seasons, as well as with the half-reality, half-scripted hybrid series, BH90210, which aired for a season on Fox. Both programs had welcomed some of the former stars of the original series so everything suggests that other returns are to be expected in this new version as well.

In the meantime, if you want to see the original Melrose Place again, you will have to turn to its DVD version.
