Two years after the end of her cult show, Ellen DeGeneres is clearly still having trouble turning the page. In his new show, Ellen DeGeneres : For Your Approvalwhich just arrived on Netflix, the 66-year-old star addresses accusations of workplace mistreatment that have tarnished her reputation and hastened the end of her television reign in 2022 after 19 seasons of the Ellen DeGeneres Show.

“I’m happy to no longer be a boss, a brand or a billboard. Just one person,” she assures in her show.

A relief which, she admits, is however tinged with bitterness. It must be said that the fall was hard for the one who was nicknamed the “queen of kindness”.

A big blow to the ego

In July 2020, BuzzFeed News revealed a toxic atmosphere behind the scenes of Ellen DeGeneres’ show, drawing on the testimony of numerous collaborators. A real blow for the presenter who, still a little in denial, only admits her wrongs half-heartedly.

“I am honest, generous, sensitive… but also tough, impatient and demanding. I am a strong woman,” she says in another sequence. Galvanized by the acclamations of an audience visibly committed to her cause, Ellen DeGeneres ended up declaring: “I am proud of who I have become. »
