The CH blunder: a reality TV show worthy of Radio-Canada

Bell (Crave) made a blunder while promoting their new documentary Reconstruction: At the heart of the Montreal CanadiensL.

By broadcasting an excerpt intended to generate enthusiasm, viewers were instead confronted with a monotonous scene in which we see Kent Hughes repeating that he wants his players to progress, accompanied by commentary from Radio-Canada journalist Marc-Antoine Godin.

“In fact, throughout the season, it’s a question that will come up again and again. How do you measure your progress?”

“What will this progression look like? And how much progression will be enough?”

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz….We’re going to fall asleep.

A very disappointing promotion that leaves one wondering: did they choose the wrong excerpt or is the series looking boring?

It must be said that Marc-Antoine Godin, although an experienced and respected journalist, is not exactly synonymous with dynamism.

He has a calm, almost soporific style, and this is reflected in this excerpt where one would almost want to take a little nap.

All that’s missing is the soft elevator music in the background to complete the atmosphere.

Let’s sincerely hope that the full series will be more exciting, because this preview suggests a production that is a little too much in the spirit of Radio-Canada: a serious tone and a slow pace, far from the intensity that we usually associate with hockey.

Tune in tomorrow on Crave to check out the first two episodes. Fingers crossed that the series will deliver more engaging and less monotonous content than what we’ve seen so far.

After all, hockey fans deserve a captivating dive into the heart of the Montreal Canadiens, not a documentary that sends them to sleep!

This smells like a sports infomercial. Using Marc-Antoine Godin of Radio-Canada to put us to sleep is a perfect prelude to what is to come.

A fake reality TV show subsidized by Bell with a Radio-Canada feel.

Misery…
