A fire destroys more than 60 hectares of vegetation in the Tarn-et-Garonne

Massive mobilization of firefighters Tarn et Garonne this Wednesday, August 23, 2023, after a fire broke out in the town of Septfonds.

Sixty hectares destroyed

The fire took at the level of the hamlet commune of Aliguieres. The alert was given around 1 p.m. At the end of the day the fire was contained: more than sixty hectares of vegetation were destroyed by the flames according to the firefighters

For safety, the hamlet of Aliguières was evacuated. The inhabitants were taken care of by the town hall and welcomed to the village hall. The Saint-Antonin road was closed to traffic.

Firefighters from all over the department

Firefighters from the rescue centers of Septfonds, Caussade, Montauban, Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val, Beaumont-de-Lomagne, Castelsarrasin, Caylus, Laguépie and Montech came to the scene. Lot reinforcements even arrived in the early afternoon.

Firefighters should stay all night

In total, 65 firefighters were mobilized on the spot, assisted by a dozen vehicles. Around 8 p.m., the firefighters were still on site: the fire is indeed contained but not completely extinguished.

And given the current weather conditions, with the high temperatures, prolonged surveillance of the premises is necessary. Note Météo France is counting on a high danger of forest fires in the Tarn et Garonne Thursday August 24, 2024, given the weather conditions.

According to the Tarn-et-Garonne SDIS, the firefighters could stay on site all night.
