In Quéven, the Le Bars family shares their life as adventurers around the world

They are called Le Bars and love to barouder. Here are the Barsroudeurs. There is the mother: Cynthia, 31 years old; the father, Clément, 33 years old; and their children: Eva, 8 years old, Elea, 6 years old and Naël, 3 years old. Originally from Quéven, the Le Bars family set out to travel around the world and recount their journey on their Instagram account (@les_barsroudeurs), followed by more than 58,000 people.

“It was always a dream. With Clément, we thought that before we were 40, we would go on a world tour. Then we delayed, we found excuses… But the more time passed, the more we needed it, ”says Cynthia.

“Starting all over again”

Before leaving, she and Clément were managers at Leclerc. The routine, the impression of not seeing their children grow up, of not fully enjoying their lives convinced them to leave everything behind. The date is fixed: it will be 2024. Then no, 2023. “It was too long to wait, we finally left in 2022”. “We made a conventional break with our employers. Then we made the decision to sell the house. We knew we were going to start all over again afterwards. We sold our things in barter and chip shops and gave the other half to associations, ”says Cynthia.

On February 2 precisely, Clément, Cynthia, Eva, Elea and Naël flew to while waiting for their “real” trip. A first step to satisfy their need elsewhere. In August, the long-awaited adventure begins: Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Australia, New Zealand, Guatemala and, finally , Colombia. Sumptuous landscapes, unforgettable encounters… Les Le Bars alternate between tourist circuits and immersion in local life. “We took it two or three days in advance to decide what we would do. And to stay, it was day to day, in guest houses or homestays,” explains Cynthia.

“A real slap”

After this experience in the four corners of the globe, the family is no longer quite the same. “Even if there are times when it could have been tense: in the same room, at five, every evening, at some point, it clashes! But we now know that these memories only belong to the five of us. It unites us even more.” Their view of the world has also changed. “We realize that we complain all the time when we have everything we need. And that’s a real slap, ”realizes Cynthia. “That’s where going away as a family took on all the meaning. Today, children have realized that not all children have the same way of life, not all have their own room, not all have toys… Spontaneously, when we bought them something, they offered it to the other children. It’s a great lesson! We have often been confronted with poverty. But we realized that it is we who see poor people. They don’t see themselves like that. They have a vegetable garden, a roof, there is no superfluity, no overconsumption”.

In early August 2023, the family returned to . Not for a long time. “We are going to settle in Martinique. We knew that we would never live in the metropolis again, it no longer suits us. But we weren’t really ready to move abroad,” admits Cynthia. The overseas regions were the solution. “My husband has found a job in retail. For my part, I am reorienting myself in social networks, as a community manager”. A change of course for new adventures.
