Fatal quad accident in Barousse: Didier Bellan, second deputy mayor of Sost, died

A dramatic quad accident occurred yesterday in the town of Sost en Barousse. The second deputy mayor of Sost, Didier Bellan, died at the age of 57.

“We are all in shock. It is a great sadness.” The mayor of Sost, Colette Abadie, pays tribute to her second deputy Didier Bellan, 57, victim of a fatal quad accident which occurred on the evening of Monday July 24.

Party scouting for the trails of Nadau and resistance fighters organized in the town on Friday and next Saturday, Didier Bellan was found unconscious in the woods by a resident of the town who went looking for him. Without news of him in the evening, and worrying not to see him return, the mother of Didier Bellan launched the alert.

Significant rescue resources were engaged last night by the Pghm of Luchon and Pierrefitte-Nestalas, the Loures-Barousse gendarmerie, as well as the firefighters of Sdis 65. Unfortunately, after numerous resuscitation treatments carried out, Didier Bellan, whose machine visibly turned on him in circumstances still unknown, succumbed to his serious injuries.

A village child

Father of two young children and father-in-law of his partner’s daughter, Didier Bellan, president of the Sost forestry company, had been a member of the Sost municipal council for 3 years. “He was extremely involved in the life of the town”, declares the mayor of Sost very moved. “He was a fundamentally nice person, always ready to help. Didier was a very athletic person, he also went into the woods yesterday to find the way to the trails. It’s very sad to see someone leave so young. We have a thought for his family.”

A tragedy for this small town of about 90 inhabitants who loses a child from the village.
