VIDEO. A historic half-timbered church destroyed by fire in the , “the symbol of the village that is disappearing”

In Drosnay, in the , a historic timber-framed church was destroyed by fire this Friday, July 7. The causes are not yet known. Many firefighters are on site.

Sadness and bewilderment. In the village of Drosnay (Marne) the inhabitants are in shock after the fire of their half-timbered church. The fire started at the end of the morning in this building classified as historical heritage. Mathis Perard, a resident of the village saw the church on fire. “I saw the bell tower fall, I was in front, it’s weird, I’m in shock. It’s weird. There were a lot of people. For me, it was the symbol of our commune“.

This half-timbered church, typical of the area, in the Country of the Der dates from the 16th century. It housed stained glass windows from the same period and has is classified as a historical monuments since 21 December 1982.

On social networks, lovers of the building express their sadness. “She was so pretty and part of the half-timbered church circuit. Drosnay…in 12 minutes around noon…lost its architectural gem…A disaster for our little town”.
