THE July 14th next, we will have to celebrate the National Day without fireworks in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin). Indeed, the City has decided to cancel it. We explain why.
Risks of fires and “unavailability of help”
This year, the fireworks planned on the Place de l’Étoile for the National Day will not take place. The decision was taken by the City of Strasbourg, following a recommendation of the prefecture of the Lower Rhine.
In question: the fire hazards are currently high in the department due to the drought. Also, the City explains that the decision was made in the face of “the unavailability of the fire and rescue services to secure this event”.
Other activities will be offered
Despite everything, the municipality ensures that “the National Day will be celebrated in Strasbourg” and that more details on the proposed events for the occasion will be transmitted in the coming days.
At the end of June, the fires and traditional bonfires of the Saint-Jean festival had also been canceled in the Bas-Rhin after a decision by the prefecture aimed at limiting the risk of fire starting in the department.
