Will the fireworks of July 14, 2023 be maintained in Lyon despite the recent riots?
Less than 10 days from the event, the City has just communicated information on the show that awaits the people of Lyon for this evening of National Holiday.
20 minute show
Like every year, a spectacular fireworks display will be fired from the hill of Fourvière and can be admired in a good part of the city.
The show, titled “Alegria”, will start at 10:30 p.m. and will last 20 minutes.
The firework flowers have come together to illuminate the Lyon sky with their most beautiful starry adornments! They are huge, popular, colorful, elegant, sparkling and often even amazing. During this great festive parade, these precious ladies parade in the form of large paintings that are sometimes monochrome, two-tone or three-tone.
To appreciate this spectacle, it is advisable to go to the quays of the Saône or to take a step back by settling on the banks of the Rhône. But beware, these two places are usually crowded on the evening of July 14th.
An eco-responsible show
As in 2022, the event organized by the ecological municipality will be “as eco-responsible as possible” : no more plastic, but degradable cardboard for the rockets, a minimum of heavy metals released into the atmosphere and a fire “all in progress” so that the fauna can “apprehend” this event as well as possible.
“The carbon footprint of the service is equal to zero thanks to full compensation achieved by planting trees”, welcomes the City of Lyon.
Reduced traffic and safety device
On July 14, 2023, car traffic will therefore be prohibited from 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. on the Fourvière hill. For security reasons, pedestrian access will be prohibited from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
In the Saint-Jean and Presqu’île sectors (apart from Place Bellecour), car traffic will be prohibited from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to midnight. Place Bellecour, car traffic will be prohibited from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. due to the military parade and from 7 p.m. to midnight.
Exits and entrances to private or public car parks will be prohibited at the times indicated, no derogation will be possible.
