Prince Christian of Denmark meets Princesses Carolina and Chiara of Bourbon-Siciles in Monaco before the Grand Prix

The Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix attracts Monegasques, residents of the French Riviera, tourists and even the most unexpected foreign royalty. This is the case of Prince Christian of Denmark, eldest son of Crown Prince Frederik, who was seen on Saturday May 27 alongside Princesses Maria Carolina and Maria Chiara de Bourbon des Deux-Sicilies, the daughters of the Duke of Castro. Together, they attended the qualifications.

Princess Maria Carolina and Princess Maria Chiara reunite with Prince Christian of Denmark in Monaco

Every year, at the end of May, the Principality of Monaco lives to the rhythm of the Grand Prix, this Formula 1 race which takes place on an urban circuit. The Monegasque royal family is present every year on the side of the road, at the start of the race and when the trophy is presented to the winner. Other foreign royalty also like to travel to Monaco to watch this Formula 1 race.

Princess Maria Carolina de Bourbon des Deux Sicilies, 19, and her younger sister, Princess Maria Chiara, 18, are fans of the Grand Prix. From this Saturday, the daughters of Prince Charles, current head of the Royal House of the Two Sicilies, were present behind the scenes of the race to attend the qualifying rounds.

This year, the two descendants of the kings of the Two Sicilies met Prince Christian in Monaco. The future King of Denmark, grandson of Queen Margrethe II and heir to Crown Prince Frederik, also took advantage of this special atmosphere. The 17-year-old knows the two princesses well. His youngest sister, Princess Josephine, 12, is godfathered by the Duke of Castro, the father of Carolina and Chiara. Carolina and Chiara’s first public appearance was at Josephine’s christening in Copenhagen in 2011.

These qualifications allowed Max Verstappen to take pole position for the Monaco Grand Prix race which takes place this Sunday. The second starting position goes to Fernando Alonso and in third position we find Esteban Ocon.
