They do patchwork, what is this art of sewing? • The Voice of Ain

Dynamism and good humor characterize these ladies, patchwork is far from being out of date and old-fashioned!

Last Wednesday January 15, the association All artists 01 held his 3e general assembly. Born in 2022 from a group of seamstresses who wanted to structure themselves, the ladies have come a long way. Mariane Desbans does everything she can to lead the group and present all their productions. Helped by Isabelle Dupas, the secretary, and Sandrine Pomi, the treasurer, the 9 members all have the opportunity to give their opinion and the atmosphere is really warm.

On dit “patcheuse”

There are only 9 members, they would accept gentlemen if they had the request. “We aspire to expand,” evokes the president. For now, if a future patcher wishes to participate and learn how to patch, she will be advised and guided as part of the “School patch“.

“Whatand someone joins the association, we initiate them, 9 blocks, 9 different techniques and 9 basic techniques to integrate.” In patchwork, everything is possible, participants can use all colors. “We do all styles like Japanese, for example. All representations are possible such as an Advent painting, small bags. It’s the same basic work and depending on the editing, we do with it what we want.” specifies Mariane Desbans. Ladies don’t count their hours. They meet every Wednesday evening. Everyone arrives with their own fabric and they make together.

Creations to help Alzheimer’s patients

They like to go and recharge their batteries in Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, in Alsace, the European patchwork crossroads. They roam the aisles for several days, they bring back ideas, fabrics, techniques, they train.

They exhibit their current creations at Christmas markets. They even had the idea of making play mats for the residents of La Catherinette, the town’s nursing home, more specifically for Alzheimer’s patients.

This donation will be offered in a few months, when everything is finished. To meet them and appreciate their creations, the association is organizing the second seamstresses’ flea market, Sunday March 30, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Pont-d’Ain village hall.
